I'd never heard about Monzó 'til I saw him on the 'Goodfountain Show' (XD). I found him quite hilarious when he said this about Bibi Andersen: "Esa mujer ha estado mal aparcada desde hace más de veinte años. Ya es hora de llamar a la grúa para que se la lleven de una vez".

Now, McEwan looks like one of your favourite writers. I'm getting used to read about him so I will irremediably have to buy something written by that guy. You know, we cannot escape from subliminal advertising.

I also saw him on the show but I must admit that I was disappointed because I had expected him to comment on his work and he didn't.
As for McEwan, I've read The Child in Time (quite good but not as much as the others), Chesil Beach (you already know about my opinion) and this one, which I really enjoyed. However, I started reading "Enduring Love" and I just gave it up, but probably cause I was too absent-minded, what with work and life!
Still, I do think he's great and at the moment I consider him one of my favourites.. I also used to like Paul Auster, but his novels are just the same stuff again and again, and a long time ago I used to read Nick Hornby quite a lot, but now I feel I don't like him any longer.. Yet if you love music too, read something called 31 Songs, I think. Hornby comments on and writes about his favourite songs, not only about the songs as artistic objects, but also about personal memories that he relates with the songs.
Looking forward to hearing about your favourites.

Hola, un amiguete y yo tenemos dudas sobre como decir en inglés: " Te voy a calentar las orejas" y " te voy a andar con la cara". ¿ Crees que lo entenderian?. Gracias.

I love Max Apple and his short stories. They are brilliant. I don't know if you have already read some of them, but I deeply recommend you 'Vegetable Love', as an introduction.

I also like people like Thomas Pynchon and his 'The Crying of Lot 49' and 'Entropy'. Furthermore, I'm in love with his 'Gravity's Rainbow'...

There are plenty of writers I could talk about, but it would take me the whole day. This is more like a coffee-conversation... ;)

You're right, but I guess it's quite difficult to meet for coffee, you being in Oxford!!
I've never read Pynchon, and it's the first time I've heard about Apple, so I'll do some research.
Enjoy Oxford.
